Digital Antenna FAQ - Visit our Antenna FAQ section for more information about our products, setting up antennas, and more. We also have indoor and outdoor antenna troubleshooting steps and tips. Visit our Digital Antenna FAQ page for more.
UHF & VHF - Lots of people are confused about the differences between VHF/UHF. VHF and UHF are two different types of frequency bands. Basically, a Very High Frequency (VHF) tuner can receive channels from 2 through 13 and an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) tuner can receive channels from 14 through 83. Because of the frequency availability that UHF channels have, most of the HDTV stations use UHF bands (but there are still some VHF HD channels). If you are looking to receive local HD channels, itís worth it to check out whether local stations broadcast in VHF or UHF. Alternately, you can always buy a digital antenna that picks up both VHF and UHF frequencies, getting the most channels out of your indoor or outdoor antenna.
Reception Maps - Visit our digital antenna reception map page and find out what channels are available near you, what their signal strength would be at your location, and how they are broadcasting (UHF / VHF). Reception maps are up to date and generated by DTV.org.
Note: All TV sets sold after May 25 2007 should already have a built-in digital TV tuner. The easiest way to tell if it is an digital is to check the TV set or manual and there should be a mark labeled as "Integrated Digital Tuner", "Digital Tuner Built-In", "Tuner", "DTV", "ATSC" or "HDTV". After mounting the antenna at your location, make sure to perform a channel scan periodically to check whether additional digital channels have become available. In many cases, this is all you need to do to watch digital television broadcasts. If you have an older analog TV, you will need to purchase a converter box to convert digital signals to analog.
